3 Simple Steps to Lose Weight

By now, most people are aware that weight loss is far more complicated than “calories in” vs “calories out.” While it isn’t fundamental to track micro and macro-nutrients (at least from this holistic nutritionist’s perspective), it is critical to emphasize the consumption of live, biological, and whole foods.

When we eat foods that are unprocessed and in their natural state, it is easier to obtain vital nutrients, minerals, fiber and hydration which are fundamental for ideal health. Following are 3 easy ways to consume more whole, plant-based foods to lose weight and attain vibrant health:

  1. Consume a green smoothie every morning

One of the easiest ways to eat more greens (in a way that doesn’t compose you want to barf) is by consuming a green smoothie every morning. A green smoothie (like it sounds) is green in color but can also contain plenty of fruit for taste appeal. When working with clients, I recommend this basic green smoothie to start out.

The spinach is a neutral-tasting green and it adds a creamy texture when blended with fruit, such as bananas. Those who are strange to green smoothies may also luxuriate in this live food almond butter + jelly green smoothie.

  2. Add a salad to an evening dinner

Salads don’t fill to be boring and bland. Spruce up your evening meal by adding a side salad, and accept creative by adding a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables. Cranberries, nuts, vegan cheese, sauteed mushrooms, etc… The list is endless!

Bonus tip: To compose a salad even healthier, compose your own dressing! Most store-bought dressings are full of oil, refined sugar, and ingredients your grandma couldn’t pronounce. Try this raw vegan caesar salad dressing or this Asian miso-orange dressing.

  3. Consume a protein-dense breakfast

Consuming at least 20 grams of protein in the morning will serve balance your blood sugar and withhold you full for at least 3-4 hours. You can easily accomplish this by making a smoothie and adding a sprouted protein powder. Or, you can serve two biological, free-range eggs with gluten-free avocado toast. Another option is chia porridge, made with almond milk and a raw vegan protein powder.

These are just a few ways you can consume more nutrient-dense foods to lose weight. whether enough people adopt healthier lifestyle and dietary habits, America will lose its reputation as being the fattest nation in the world.
